Product description:

Flaxseed extract is a kind of plant ligan most notably found in flaxseed. Secoisolariciresinol diglycoside, or SDG is existed as its main bioactive components. SDG is classified as a phytoestrogen since it is a plant-derived, nonsteroid compound that possesses estrogen-like activity. Flaxseed extract  SDG has weak estrogenic activity, when intake as food it will be trasfer to flax ligan which have same structure with estrogens.The level of SDG in flaxseed typically varies between 0.6% and 1.8%. Flaxseed extract powder SDG can reduce the blood lipid, cholesterin and triglyceride, it can also prevent for apoplexy, hyperension, blood clots, arteriosclerosis and arrhythmia. In addition, flax seed extract powder SDG is benificial for diabetes and CHD.

“In 1998 India’s indigenous edible oils made from mustard, coconut, sesame, linseed and groundnut processed in artisanal cold-press mills were banned, using “food safety” as an excuse. The restrictions on import of soya oil were simultaneously removed. Ten million farmers’ livelihoods were threatened. One million oil mills in villages were closed. And millions of tons of artificially cheap GMO soya oil continue to be dumped on India. Women from the slums of Delhi came out in a movement to reject soya and bring back mustard oil. “Sarson bachao, soyabean bhagao” (save the mustard, drive away the soyabean) was the women’s call from the streets of Delhi. We did succeed in bringing back mustard through our “sarson satyagraha” (non-cooperation with the ban on mustard oil).”

Betty demonstrates how to make Dark Chocolate Cranberry Cookies. This cookie recipe is from Gail Simmons, a judge on the TV show “Top Chef.”

It is a delicious and gluten-free recipe.

Dark Chocolate Cranberry Cookies

4 egg whites
½ tsp lemon juice
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp salt
¾ cup sugar
12 oz. 70% to 72% cacao dark chocolate, melted and cooled
½ cup chopped walnuts, plus walnut halves for garnish
½ cup chopped dried cherries or cranberries

Preheat oven to 325°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, beat egg whites, lemon juice, vanilla and salt until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in chocolate, walnuts and cherries. Scrape half of batter into a large zip-top plastic bag. Cut a ¾-inch hole in one corner of bag. Pipe 2-inch cookies onto prepared cookie sheets. Repeat with remaining batter and a clean zip-top bag. Top each cookie with a walnut half. Bake 15 minutes or until outside is set and dry. Cool completely on sheet pans. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Makes 36.
