Brief Introduction
Astaxanthin is a natural nutritional component, it can be found as a food supplement. The supplement is intended for human, animal, and aquaculture consumption.
Astaxanthin is a carotenoid. It belongs to a larger class of phytochemicals known as terpenes, which are built from five carbon precursors; isopentenyl diphosphate and dimethylallyl diphosphate . Astaxanthin is classified as a xanthophyll (originally derived from a word meaning “yellow leaves” since yellow plant leaf pigments were the first recognized of the xanthophyll family of carotenoids), but currently employed to describe carotenoid compounds that have oxygen-containing moities, hydroxyl or ketone , such as zeaxanthin and canthaxanthin. Indeed, astaxanthin is a metabolite of zeaxanthin and/or canthaxanthin, containing both hydroxyl and ketone functional groups. Like many carotenoids, astaxanthin is a colorful, lipid-soluble pigment. This colour is due to the extended chain of conjugated (alternating double and single) double bonds at the centre of the compound. This chain of conjugated double bonds is also responsible for the antioxidant function of astaxanthin (as well as other carotenoids) as it results in a region of decentralized electrons that can be donated to reduce a reactive oxidizing molecule.
Function:
1.Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant and may protect against oxidative damage to body tissues.
2.Astaxanthin can improve the immune response by increasing the number of antibody producing cells.
3.Astaxanthin is a potential candidate to treat neurodegenerative disease such as Alzhimer and Parkinson diease.
4.Astaxanthin dan reduce UVA-light damage to skin such as sunburn, inflammation, ageing and skin cancer.

1.When applied in pharmaceutical field, astaxanthin powder has the good function of antineoplastic;
2.When applied in health food field, astaxanthin powder is used as food additives for pigment and health care;
3.When applied in cosmetic field, astaxanthin powder has the good function of antioxidant and anti-aging;

RECIPE IN STRUCTIONS + TIPS:
1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF
2. Combine peanuts, chocolate, peanut powder, your favorite protein powder, and maple syrup into a food processor
3. Blend/process for however long you think looks good to you and open the bowl back up
4. Throw in the rolled oats and give it another 30-60 seconds (you want to aim for a sticky, sludgey texture)
5. Depending on how big you want your cookie, form dough on a baking tray
6. Depending on how chewy/crunchy you want your cookies, watch them in oven if you are going to leave them in for longer than 15-20 minutes.
6. Serve with your favorite version of milk, and enjoy!
TIPS:
•I used luxurious ingredients like performance peanut butter powder and pumpkin protein powder but you should be able to get the key components of this recipe at your local supermarket for well under $10
•If you are going to the healthier route and using rolled oats in place of flour like me, throw your ingredients into the food processor beforehand to ensure a doughy texture
•Every ingredient in this recipe is interchangeable. You can mix and match whatever ingredients you like best based on your tastebuds/food sensitivities/etc.
•If you like your cookies on the crunchier side leave them in the oven longer than 20 minutes
•If you aren’t on a plant-based, or dairy-free diet –I suggest you don’t go cheap and try to get the best quality ingredients (eggs, milk, etc.)

Goji berries are the red-orange fruits of certain Lycium species, highly revered as a major Chinese tonic herb for their blood building qualities and restorative effects on the liver, kidney and immune functions. Commonly brewed for centuries as an herbal substance in numerous tea preparations, they are known for their ability to replenish Yin Jing essence, the primordial energy of the body associated with the kidney-adrenal system, sexual libido and fertility. Containing specific phytonutrients, like lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBPs), they have been utilized for centuries as a Chinese tea ingredient in herbal formulations. Today they are commonly consumed in the West as a dried fruit or soaked and blended into drinks.
