I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (https://www.youtube.com/editor)
For this project, I decided to compose music that seems to have no specific emotion amplification. Being that the score itself, is objective though the given visuals are specific. I chose a reference score that motivated me to keep clean of becoming subjective as I generally tend to become exaggerated with some of my works and interpretations. So, to avoid over dramatism, I chose to reference the opening title music from an American Hospital Drama series, called “Grey’s Anatomy”: Written By: Shonda Rhimes. My score shares some similarities in texture to the opening title music in Grey’s Anatomy, but differs in organizational technique and perspective.
You might think that some of the instrumentation is “off beat” or out of time, but please be aware that this was my purposeful intention to do this. After quantizing slightly, I amplified the “magnetic area” to produce a sticky, slightly off time effect. my motive for this is my perspective of the given photo essay, being that I find it was edited and created in such a quirky, warm hearted way, thus to emphasize this, I chose to go for that effect to amplify the quirky nature in which I perceived this photo essay.
The ostinato part- played by two separate pianos- was inspired by Alexandre Desplat’s tone, and mood in “The Kings Speech” by Tom Hooper, and “The Painted Veil”: John Curran. Thus, with all the above mentioned, my motive was to eventually have a quirky composition that required the instrumentation to “lean on each other” within a vaguely set tempo.
The Composition though stays in one place being that it does not modulate or have a definitive musical progression. The piece is composed in C major, utilising mostly Major 7th and perfect fourth and fifth intervals. To add dynamic, I varied the gain and velocity of each different part in turn, so we hear each little quirky idea whilst remaining on variations of the tonic. To add climatic dynamic to the score, I simply went up the C Major scale back down to tonic. This doesn’t really count as a progression, but more as passing notes towards the tonic an octave higher.
There is a slight touch of timpani underneath to give the score a rhythmic feel so as to help draw the composition away from overly romantic emotional ensemble music. Very lightly though so as to not detract from the score itself.

The factory technical staff not only have high level of technology, their English level is also very good, this is a great help to technology communication.
